Were you using a plugin for hotlink protection or was it mod/rewrite rules for hotlink protection added to your .htaccess file?

I just recently installed WP Super Cache on my blog and before that I already have hotlink protection mod/rewrite rules on my .htaccess file. I'm afraid that it can cause problems or conflict like what happened to your blog.

Anyways, I'll be keeping track and see if I start losing some traffic then I'll remove the hotlink protection rules. Thanks for sharing about this! :)

i'm sorry. but i think, it's not ENABLE but DISABLE. Enabling hotlinking means allowing other sites to hotlink to your images in your server.

Hello!

If you have lots of images uploaded to the internet, or even if there are only few of them, you need to disable hotlinking in your site to save bandwidth of your site.

You see, hotlinkers or websites using your images by directly putting the images into their website without uploading the images into their own server are like robbers, and are stealing your bandwidth.

Now... when checking the traffic of other websites, I just look at the traffic reported by the topblogs-rankingwebsites that those blogs participated, or other websites that are tracking their traffic.

For example, if i want to know the traffic of your website, I just visit your status through the TopBlogs.com.ph or by visiting this page.

Hi Kuya Sel,

I don't really have a lot of traffic in my site but do i need to disable hot linking in my site?

When you said, you checked the traffic of other blogs like yuga, macuha, etc. Did you use some kind of software or just on the traffic reports of topblogs?
