What is the best wireless internet provider?
Question: What is the best wireless internet provider in the Philippines?
Answer:
Best wireless internet provider varies from area to area and what type of wireless connection you want to use.
For example, here in my area in Maasin City (Southern Leyte), I found out that Smart Bro Canopy is the best wireless internet connection. Internet connection using the Globe Tattoo and Smart Bro USB are slow since only the GPRS wireless technology is available here.
If in your area, the 3G connection of Smart is available then it is advisable to use the Smart Bro USB. Or if in your area the Globe’s 3G connection is better than Smart’s 3G then better use the Globe Tattoo.
However, the speed of your internet connection, even if you are in the area where 3G connection is available, will be affected by the huge number of users using the same internet connection.
So, it’s you who can tell what internet connection is best in your area by doing your own research.

I’ve been with Smart Bro Canopy for more than 3 years. I am a very satisfied costumer. My location is Tacloban City.
I am using Smart Bro Canopy for 2 years already. I am very satisfied in terms of speed of the connection but I am embarrassed by their technical support.
I still believe that the wired network is still the more reliable internet connection. There are so many uncontrolled factors that affect wireless internet. So if wired internet is one option available, I would suggest to go for it rather than wireless connection.
I tried the Globelines Broadband (wired) but the connection is worst. It’s the only available wired internet connection in my area.
When someone from Globe presented a demo in Lyceum Batangas last mid-September, they admitted that the speed of their DSL is not really guaranteed. I am using a pldt DSL for two years now here in San Jose, Batangas and it works fine though its only at 512kbps which I only get around 30% of that speed in reality. The connection is very stable rain or shine.
PLDT MyDSL is good and better compared to Globelines Broadband and Bayan DSL. That’s what I found when I was still in Cebu.
me too…. I am using Smart Bro Canopy for almost 2 years…..
Actually, nakatalikod sa akin ang canopy antenna doon sa Celsite ng Smart sa Pacu, pero okay pa rin ang speed nito.

thanks …. and you’re welcome here too.
I agreed that optimum speed is on 3G/HSDPA cell sites. Make sure also that your USB Modem is at full speed on HSDPA which I think at 7.2 mbps and even better if you have Smartphone having 7.2 mbps capable modem, use that as a modem. The advantage of using smartphone as internet modem is flexibility, you can surf the net anywhere you go whether on smartphone or in laptop without changing/removing the sim card.
Thanks, this was really a fantastic read. So when is your next post coming? I can’t wait
I am planning on using Smart Bro plug-it postpaid. Newbie po ako sa computer techs so wala akong alam about 3G and HSDPA. Paano ko po ba malalaman itong mga ito? Ang location ko po ay sa Los Baños Laguna.
Thanks po. Sana may mag-reply
hope you have not yet subscribed to an unlimited plan of Smart Bro. ive been using my smart bro plug in UP Diliman for the past 8 months, even in QC there are times that the signal drops. Better signal is expected only after 8pm and until 8am. From 8am to 8pm signal widely varies, but its tolerable in general. Dont expect to get 2mbps, maswerte ka na if the signal stabilizes at 256 kbps (this is according to their own speed meter). I recently moved to Los Banos and uses my smart bro plug in. In LB, it is worse! its just like im using a dial up (it averages at 56kbps) and mind you, im paying 1500 per month. hirap pang tumawag sa technical support (na drain na battery ko, la parin sumasagot). I am planning to have my plan pre-terminated but i will log a formal complaint muna, its really unfair for me to pay for pre-termination fee when they wont give me the end of the bargain. if di ka naman as mobile, get a wired connection wag din smart wireless a friend told me tinatangay din ng hangin ang signal. if you really need a mobile internet just get a pre-paid plug in. I know di lang ako nagrereklamo ng ganito, i really hope SMART will heed this otherwise they will lose a sizeable amount of their market esp among students in LB.
