I am a member of the Social Security System (Philippines). I paid my monthly contribution since then and I am getting 60 years old.
My question is: how can I avail the pension from the SSS?
Answer:
The first requirement in availing the SSS Pension is, you should be qualified for it. Those who are qualified are:
1. A member who is 60 years old, separated form employment or ceased to be self-employed, and has paid at least 120 monthly contributions prior to the semester of retirement.
2. A member who is 65 years old whether employed or not and has paid at least 120 monthly contributions prior to the semester of retirement.
According to you, you paid your SSS monthly contribution since then. Then I think, you are qualified to apply for the SSS pension.
Just visit the SSS Office near you. Bring with you the following documents needed in the application for the SSS pension:
- Retirement claim application (SSS Form DDR-1);
- DDR Savings Account form;
- Certificate of Separation from last employer (for members less than 65 years old);
- Passbook (if pension);
- Certified true copies of birth or baptismal certificate of dependent children;
- Certificate of cessation of business or practice of profession (for self-employed less than 65 years old);
- Certified true copy of Marriage certificate (if with dependent children)
- Proofs of filiation for illegitimate dependent children; and
- SSS digitized or E-6 (acknowledgement stub) with two valid IDs, one of which with recent photo.

Katatapos ko palang mag-Birthday at 60 years old na ako. Nagtanong ako sa SSS office dito sa Roxas City para sa Requirements upang makapag Claim na ako ng Retirement Pension. Nadtanong din ako kung magkano ba ang magiging Pension ko Monthly. Ang sabi ng Employee ng SSS ay 4,000. Pesos Plus lang daw ang aking matatagap. Simula ppa nuon 19 Years Old ako nagsimulang mag Trabaho sa Barko na Overseas at ang Agency namin ay nagbabayad naman ng Contribution para sa akin sa SSS. Ang pinagtataka ko ay sobra na nga ako sa Limit na 200 Months. Tumigil ako sa Pagsakay sa Barko nuong 2007 July dahil sa Kapansanan sa Lower Back at dahil din sa Operado na ako sa Spine kasi nga ay nadisgrasya ako sa Barko habang nagtatrabaho. Pero kahit wala na akong Trabaho simula July 2007 ay nagbayad pa rin ako ng Minimum contribution sa dahilang kung mag-Loan ako ay active pa rin ako sa pagbabayad, Ang Tanong ko ay Bakit napakababa naman yata ang magiging Monthly Pesion ko kung 4,000. Plus Pesos lang ang matatanggap ko kkada buwan. Kulang ito, para lang sa Gamot ko sa araw-araw ay talagang napaka-liit nito. Sana ay maging ayos naman ang pag Kwenta sa Lahat ng nai-contribute ko at dapat ay taasan naman ang matatanggap kong Monthly Pension. Maraming Salamat Po kung matugunan nyo ang Inquiry at Request ko
I am an OFW who just started to contribute my monthly SSS payment last year. I have paid & will continue to pay the highest/maximum contribution, which is around P1,600.00/month, if I’m not mistaken. If I pay this til I reach the required age or number of months (120 months), how much will I avail of my monthly pension after the age of 60?
