I am Catholic but I have a brother who converted himself to the Iglesia ni Cristo. I went to their home for a Christmas vacation. I noticed that they don’t decorate their house with Christmas decoration…
How do the Iglesia ni Cristo celebrate Christmas anyway?

official answer. This is just my personal answer
to the best of my knowledge about the Iglesia ni Cristo.
To let you know, the Iglesia ni Cristo do not celebrate Christmas not because they don’t celebrate birthday, not because they’re against peace… against giving and sharing…
The Iglesia ni Cristo do not celebrate Christmas because of the following reasons:
- December 25 is not really the date of the birth of Christ. Nowhere in the New Testament that you can find that date of the birth of Christ. This date even contradicted to the facts recorded in the Bible about when Christ was born.
- December 25 is originally the date of the pagan festival for the pagan god “sun”.
- The activities like merrymaking were once dedicated to the pagan god “sun god” but when the birthday of the pagan god was christianized and made into Christmas, the same merrymaking and other Christmas activities were now dedicated to Christ.
Overall, the real reason why the Iglesia ni Cristo do not celebrate Christmas is because Christmas is a pagan festival.

I’ve known this fact since elementary. For me it’s not important if December 25 is the “real†birth of Christ or the fact that the Catholic Church converted a pagan festival into one of their official celebrations. The thought of giving and sharing is the real meaning of Christmas and not its historical context. I don’t know if some people do listen to their heart rather than just considering what is easily observable. I respect INC as a whole and this is just my opinion.

With regards to giving and sharing, the Iglesia ni Cristo practice it all the time as part of their doctrine in brotherhood (Kapatiran).
INC is a fluke. It’s just a money making corporation created for the benefit of the Manalo’s.

INC really don’t link any celebration from the Catholic church but they do like making money from them. That’s stupid.
based on what I learned about their doctrine, taking part of the those festivities or celebration that are identified as pagan in origin or pagan in nature is prohibited including selling those stuffs used for these celebration. Members who are caught selling candles for the “araw sa mga patay”, selling christmas decor, attending fiestas for the saints or making money from it are subject to disciplinary actions including “pagtitiwalag” (expulsion).

With the Christmas issue here’s my answer:
1. it was originally a pagan feast for the sun god
2. never in the bible that states Christ’s bday was mentioned but the time of the year.
the bible states that christ was born on the time that shepherds were grazing their sheep on the pasture (im not sure what verse it is in,but im sure that it is stated in the bible ).so christmas is celebrated in december which is actually winter time.so do you think the shepherds will graze their sheep on winter?..
And other religions will say: “its not the date that counts..8s the thought”
i question my self, for whom do they celebrate?. answer: jesus christ

the things that i’ve notice hw they celebrate christmas is based on what i actually saw or is what’s really happening
Parties. especially in urban places, young people celebrate christmas by holding parties where in most of them are drunk, they are some that are high in illegal drugs that sometimes lead them in vehicular accidents, fight w/sum1 else ..sex w/ sum1 they don’t know..killing sum1 due to hallucinations
So is it right to celebrate a holy man’s bday with such things i mentioned?…you know the answer..drinking liquors or anything that could make u drunk including drugs = sin
pre marital sex (especially w/sum1 u don’t know) = sin
murder = sin
simbang gabi. catholics wake up early to attend the mass which is ok but the bad thing is that there are youngsters that use this as an opportunity to meet their lovers and results into, them doing PDA inside the church which is very immoral and the way they dress is not appropriate as most teenagers wear too short skirts, backless dress, etc.the church is a holy place so it must be respected.

there are many catholic doctrines that were not based on the bible but were just made by priests’ and approved by the pope. which if you read the bible, it states that no one should add nor omit anything from God’s words, so making such doctrines is a major sin according to the bible
according to the bible anyone who restricts eating of meat and marriage is not a son of god but of evil…( not familiar verses so better search for them..or i’ll post it later)
I’m not saying that INc members are perfect..as we humans like you are prone to committing mistakes, but our church see to it that we are not going to be tolerated as every violation has a corresponding disciplinary action.
Restrictions are:
1. Eating of blood – (major offense) (sentence:expulsion) – blood i a holy thing that is offered to God for your sins to be forgiven as what christ did for his people. members who were ex pulsed were unlikely to get back to the church
2. Marriage to non members of the church. – bible states what relation does light have w/darkness..as right w/ wrong..
3. Drinking alcoholic beverages – what i know is, is that it is already a sin in time of jesus
i’ll discuss more restrictions on the future as i don’t have much time..just feel free to ask
there are so many thing’s i would like to explain but i have to go to school, maybe another time..
NOTE: all i’ve written is not an official statement from Iglesia ni Cristo’s Administration but were just based on my own understanding of our doctrines and experience..so it will depend on how you’ll react to it..you could search about anything i’ve stated here..im not going to convince anyone…

i have tried to try Iglesia ni Cristo for a month. At first I was impressed of how they deal with the religion but all of this went out when I felt something was wrong. I tried to look for answer and God has made me seen this website. “iglesia exposed” I was shocked about what really INC is. Yes you may say a lot of Catholics been drunk or have used drugs. But if we see the structure of the doctrines i probably will say that Catholics do base their doctrines and doings in accordance to the bible. Not selecting some verses but acknowledges the whole content of the bible. Never will it happen that God doesnt want to save all mankind, because we are His creations and He wants to be with us when time comes. God has given us the WILL so He could see how well we LOVE Him. Those drunken people you see has chosen that path but God never gave up HOPE from them because they will be saved in accordance to His MERCY.

You said you’d tried the Iglesia ni Cristo, but it was just for a month. I don’t think you’ll immediately understand the doctrines of the Iglesia ni Cristo in just a month.
To let you know, I was just a convert from Catholics to the Iglesia ni Cristo. And the process in trying to join the Iglesia ni Cristo is not that really easy because you need to undergo the seminars on doctrines.
Man, you just tried it for a month, while I finished the doctrine for more than two months. After undergoing the seminars on doctrine I still in the process of being under observation before I received the baptism. And it took me at least 6 months before I got that baptism…
About the website you mentioned… well, I also visited that and read those content about the Iglesia ni Cristo. But that website didn’t affect my desire to become member of the Iglesia ni Cristo.
Look, the ideal member of the Iglesia ni Cristo is a man who followed the doctrines recorded in the Bible. And these doctrines are the ones taught to aspiring members. However, we’re just man that sometimes do mistakes and that’s the reason why there are members who were expelled from the church because they just couldn’t follow the doctrines and even if they’re advised to change their lives, they still continued those wrong doings.

In other words, trying to enter the Iglesia ni Cristo in just a month and then thought of yourself as if you knew a lot about the Iglesia ni Cristo, is ridiculous.
I hate to be an asshole but I think the whole point of questioning whether 25th is really the birth of Christ is plain STUPIDITY. In the first place, the bible, where you base all your doctrine has a lot of flaws. It was through oral tradition that the stories in the bible has been transmitted for generation until people started to write them. The birth of Christ is even questionable if it really happened. The bottom line, no one on earth has THE AUTHORITY to tell anyone that their doctrine is correct or not. Not even your doctrines at Iglesia ni Cristo. For crying out loud, INC is what, a little over a hundred years? And where in hell did you get your doctrines initially? From the Catholic church. If it weren’t because of the Spaniards who brought Catholicism to the Phils, INC won’t even exist today.
For the heck of it, whether or not 25th is the real birth of Jesus or not, it doesn’t really matter. Because Christmas is meant to bring peace, unity, prosperity and hope among people. I just thought that INC is a WET BLANKET that wants to go against the more established church. I have nothing against you people, it’s just that you’re too much. Get a life!

Questioning whether 25th in December is really the birth of Christ is not a plain stupidity as you think. It is important because Catholic taught its members that December 25 is the birthday of Christ when in fact the real birthday of Christ as recorded in the Bible could not be on December which is winter time in Israel.
Now, if you’re taught of a lie, then the teacher of this lie is liar. And if you’re reading the Bible then you knew who the father of liar is.

nowadays 95% of christmases celebrated only celebrate commercialism, gifts, coca cola colored santa claus, pinetrees, reindeers and elves. and it’s for meetin relatives and simply there’s nothing religious about it so i don’t see it why couldn’t some1 celebrate with their friends and family (even if it doesn’t exist in their religion). anyway it doesnt’t matter what day it is. if christmas was at summer it just wouldn’t be the same, so december is as good as any other winter month. christmas isn’t the same in tropical countries than in winter country
The truth is that true all Christians, doing what they believes matters them most specially when it comes to salvation. The God of the Holy Bible is strict in this sense and anyone who is not doing and following his true words written in the Bible will be punished and as for me as an ex catholic I do believe that is very essential what you really doing or making your lives when your still alive because this is what the essense of being a true man of God. And as i have examined and weigh the doctrines of several religious movement of the world. There is nothing compare with the doctrines inside the INC. Christmas is one of the several money making scheme of the Catholic world. If any people here should really make any intelligent observations about this pagan christianized believe then he will make intelligent conclusion too that its not really Christ who is glorified by this so called holiday event but by those people who is really out for money and extravagance…a life that is not really meant by God in the first place.
