A 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit Mexico and jolted US cities near the epicenter. The earthquake was felt after 3:30 pm (local time) Sunday and the epicenter was in 16 miles southwest of Guadalupe Victoria in Baja California, Mexico.
The Baja California state Civil Protection authority reported that 1 man was killed when his house which is near the epicenter collapsed on him. There are also reports that there are people people trapped in more home collapsed in Mexicali.
The quake which was relative shallow knocked down power lines, cut off most phone communications and tore big cracks in a highway linking Tijuana to Mexicali. A series of aftershocks rocked the area around the epicenter.
