Gloria Dei Lutheran Church is currently experiencing foreclosure. Members of this church tried to save their church by praying, talking to lenders and a lot of ways were done just to avoid the foreclosure but their leaders simply couldn’t avoid it.
And while they’re facing this problem, the Iglesia ni Cristo (Church of Christ) is trying to acquire the property for about $1.82 million.
You can read the news at the Sacramento Bee and here’s part of the story:
Gloria Dei Lutheran, which will soon hold an open house to sell everything from church banners to candles, is not the only congregation in trouble. Several more are in financial straits, according to local real estate agents. On Tuesday, Family Christian Center, an Orangevale community fixture for more than four decades, hit the auction block, asking for an opening bid of $3.9 million. There were no bidders. …
Another congregation, Iglesia ni Cristo, a Filipino Church of Christ congregation, is purchasing the 7-acre church property, which was listed for $1.82 million. The transaction is still in escrow.
This is another proof that while the world is suffering from financial crisis, the Iglesia ni Cristo keeps on rising. Praise be to God!
