Independence Day and Cholera in Pakistan


Pakistan’s 63rd Independence day (after winning from the British government in 1947) celebration was canceled Saturday since one fifth of the nation is flooded.

Authorities said that monsoon rain has caused the worst flood that hit Pakistan turning entire village, towns and farms into a large lake affecting 20 million people of Pakistan. At least 1,500 people were already killed by the tragedy.

Cholera in the Flooded Area

The United Nation confirmed Saturday that the water borne disease, Cholera is present in the flooded area. The first case was reported in Mingora while health (aid) workers are treating thousands suffering from diarrhea.
