Few weeks after the Holy Rosary Catholic Church (chapel) in La Motte was successfully dedicated to God by the Iglesia Ni Cristo as its new house of worship in La Motte, a religious debate between the Roman Catholic Church (Iglesia) and the Iglesia Ni Cristo in Visalia, Visalia Fox Theatre on Friday night. The topic of the debate is “What is the True Church?”

The Iglesia Ni Cristo is represented by Brother Jose Ventilacion while the Roman Catholic Church was represented by Jesse Romero, a lay Catholic evangelist and retired Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputy from Sylmar.

The debate is organized by the members of Lumen Christi, a men’s Bible study group that meets at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Visalia and the Iglesia Ni Cristo local congregation in Visalia. Each of the two groups paid half of the cost of rent of the 1,200-seat Fox Theatre.

About the La Motte church dedication:

When Holy Rosary Catholic Church was established in 1893, church leaders sprinkled holy water around the sanctuary of the fine brick edifice. Now 119 years later, the church building was dedicated as the newest church for Iglesia Ni Cristo (Filipino for Church of Christ). During the two-hour-long ceremony, church leaders and the faithful shed copious tears of piety, ecstasy and religious fervor. (Read More at Post Crescent)
