Are you a woman who wants to get pregnant but seems that your uterus is not functioning well? You can actually replace your uterus with a functioning one from your mother. Doctors in Sweden successfully have done that.
In a report, it was revealed that 10 doctors participate in complicating operations that transfer the uterus of a woman to her daughter. It was the first successful mother to daughter uterus transplant in the world, but it’s not the first operation that transfer uterus from one woman to another because there was a news that a Turkish doctor successfully transplanted the uterus of a dead woman to the other living one.
These recent operations were done in Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg in Sweden.
However, their team leader, Dr. Mats Brannstrom, who is also a professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at the university, told the media that they don’t consider the operation successful until the two women who underwent the transplant will become pregnant.
Before the surgery, the two women underwent in-vitro fertilisation. In this process, doctors used hormone in stimulating the ovaries to produce egg. They then collected an egg from each of the women, fertilized the egg with the sperm and then froze the embryo. When the women are ready, the embryos will be transferred to the women.
If their pregnancy will be successful, the transplanted uterus will be removed after they have the 2nd child. This procedure should be done so that the women will not take the immunosuppressant drugs anymore. This drug helps the women’s bodies accept the transplanted uterus.
But I think, this procedure is good if you want to experience getting pregnant. You can, however, choose the option of using a surrogate mother if you want to have your children. And if your mother is still capable of carrying your child, then why not ask your mother to be the surrogate of your child.
