The Hottest Online Sellers of 2013

If you’re ready to start making some extra cash on the side, start now. There’s no time like the present to replenish your bank accounts with an online business, no matter what you plan on doing. Many people are choosing to sell things online because of the high profits they can make with relatively little work. Lots of people have even quit their jobs to pursue a work from home situation that allows them to make tons of money by selling various things online. If you are considering opening up an online shop to make some extra money, or even considering quitting your job so you can dedicate a ton of time to it, check out these products that are becoming the hottest moneymakers of 2013.

Mugs

Mugs are a very popular product that lots of people choose to sell online for a number of reasons. One of those reasons is the potential markup. You can create custom mugs from a website like Mines Press, and if you buy a lot you’ll only be paying a few dollars (at most) for each mug. You can then turn around and sell those mugs online for a huge profit per mug, as mugs usually go online for around $10 at the least. If you’ve got a hot seller, you could even charge up to $20 a mug! Since coffee mugs are very small, ordering them in bulk won’t take up a lot of space in your home, and they are easy to ship. In fact, since you’ll be making such a huge profit, you can even consider offering free shipping, which might entice some potential customers to buy your mugs.

buySmartphone Accessories

The market for smart phone accessories has exploded in the last few years, and if you want to make some serious cash you should get in on that market. Just like many other things that you can sell online, selling smart phone accessories for maximum profit means you need to buy in bulk. You can buy smart phone accessories in bulk from places overseas, and sell them in your online store for large markups. These accessories can range from phone cases to replacement batteries; whatever you choose to sell, there will be people looking for it. Do some research to find the most inexpensive wholesale providers for smart phone accessories, and you’ll be on your way to affording the new iPhone that you sell cases for!

Shoes

Shoes remain one of the hottest sellers on online marketplaces. The great thing about selling shoes is that you can sell both new and used shoes, and see high returns for both. If you want to sell new shoes, go to a discount shoe supplier store and pick up some brand name shoes. These will sell like hotcakes. Used shoes can be a bit trickier, but also may result in bigger profits. Check out a secondhand store and buy a few pairs of brand name shoes, clean them up, and list them on an online marketplace like eBay. You’ll see big profits in no time!

January 2013 USS Guardian Crash at Tubbataha Reef

US Navy Minesweeper Avenger class, USS Guardian, ran aground on a coral reef, the Tubbataha reef, in the Philippines on Thursday, January 17, 2013, while heading to Indonesia and East Timor for military exercises from a port call in Subic Bay. All its crew have abandoned the ship already after a series of failed tries to set the ship back away from the reef.

The US Navy has apologized for the grounding of its ship in the World Heritage site but Philippine authorities said they have fined them for the illegal entry and the damages it brought to the site.

Authorities from Tubbataha management revealed that its marine rangers told the ship’s crews that they’re entering a no-navigation area and heading to the Tubbataha National Park, but they were ignored.

The US Navy Minesweeper is the high-tech navy ship designed to destroy seamines of the enemies. But even if it’s a sophisticated navy ship, its officials blamed the ship’s inaccurate maps as the cause of the crash.

The Tubataha reef, on the other hand, is the UNESCO world’s heritage site, a marine sanctuary and a tourist’s attraction, found in the Sulu sea near Palawan islands in the Philippines.

When the Sequel is Better than the Original: Refinancing with HARP2.0

Back in 2009, millions of homeowners were underwater owing more than what their homes were worth. As a result, they didn’t have the option to refinance their homes and the banks wouldn’t help them. The government hoped to help 4 million homeowners by launching HARP (Home Affordable Refinance Program), but it only helped roughly 1 million of the projected 4. The government rolled up their sleeves, and went back to the drawing board and released the sequel HARP 2.0, which has proven to be significantly more useful and helpful than its flop of an original. If you have considered doing a Florida Harp Refi, now is the perfect time to find an experienced expert who can set you on the path to refinancing your home, and improving your lifestyle by letting you keep extra money in the bank.

Steady improvements

When HARP 2.0 was launched, it was met with much doubt. However, it has continued to gain ground and is proving to live up to the expectations first held for its failure of a predecessor. In an article by The New York Times, the author writes that in the first quarter, HARP loans accounted for about 14 percent of all refinancing activity on loans backed or owned by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, according to Inside Mortgage Finance. That’s up from about 12 percent of refinancing activity for each of the last two years.

refinance

Am I eligible?

If you are a borrower with a loan-to-value ratio of less than 125 percent, perk up your ears. If you are underwater on your mortgage, you may be able to refinance without paying down principal and / or without having to pay mortgage insurance. In order to be eligible for HARP 2.0 your loan must be backed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac and your current mortgage must have a securitization date prior to June 1, 2009. If you meet both of these criteria points, you may be eligible for HARP. However, if your mortgage is an FHE, USDA or a jumbo mortgage, you are not eligible for the HAPR program. Another disqualifier would be if you refinanced your home under HARP 1.0. Also, the loan on your home must be for at least 80 percent of the home’s value. You also must have a good payment history for the last 12 months. But if any of these red flags appear in your qualification court, don’t be discouraged; contact a reputable mortgage broker and see what programs you do qualify for, or what options will best meet your needs.

Do your research

Refinancing your Florida home with HARP way be the solution to all of your financial woes. If you are unclear even after reading this article as to whether or not you would qualify for HARP 2.0, then do some online research and contact an experienced brokerage that specializes in refinancing homes and helping people get out of debt. Now is your time.

The Antimonan- Quezon Rubout or Shootout January 2013

Late Sunday, January 6, 2013, Police Superintendent Hansel Marantan led the government security forces, PNP and AFP troopers (24 Police Officers and 25 Army Personnel) in a checkpoint, in a supposed gunfight against the alleged group of criminals. He was hit by 3 bullets in his legs and 1 in his arm, while the 13 alleged criminals were all killed. The fatalities are:

  1. Police Superintendent Alfredo Consemino
  2. Senior Police Officer 1 Gruet Mantuano (Consemino Aide)
  3. Police Officer 1 Jeffrey Valdez (Consemino Aide)
  4. S/Sgt. Armando Lescano (AirForce Intelligence Agent, 554th Air Police Squadron)
  5. 1Lt. Jimbean Justiniani (AirForce Intelligence Agent, 554th Air Police Squadron)
  6. Leonardo Marasigan (Alleged ISAFP Agent)
  7. Maximo Pelayo (Alleged ISAFP Agent)
  8. Tirso Lontoc Jr.  (A relative of Agriculture Secretary Proceso Alcala and an environmentalist)
  9. Conrado Decillo
  10. Victor Gonzales
  11. Gerry Siman
  12. Paul Quiohilag
  13. Victorino “Vic” Siman (Alleged Gamling Lord, also known as Victorino Atienza)

Few facts have been noted:

  1. The two (black Montero) SUVs have 184 bullet holes.
  2. All the windows of the SUVs were rolled up.
  3. Victorino Siman (one of the fatalities) and Marantan (the leader of the government security force) are former friends.
  4. Gerry Siman, one of the fatalities, filed a “Multiple Murder” case against Hansel Marantan on November 2012 before the Calamba Regional Trial Court for killing 6 men in Calamba City that according to authorities were members of the gun-for-hire syndicate that killed a police officer in Cabuyao.
  5. 13 out of 14 guns recovered from the fatalities are registered and with proper documents which include 11 units of .45-caliber pistol, a baby Armalite and an M-14 US rifle. The unregistered weapon is a 9mm Armscor pistol. The license for .45-caliber pistol of Consemino is already expired on April 14, 2012. The M-14 US Rifle is registered to PNP-Camp Crame.
  6. The government forces were using unmarked vehicles (Toyota Innova and Land Cruiser) in the checkpoint and the sign was placed on the center of the road only when the two vehicles were approaching, and then the military truck was immediate placed on the road to block the passage.
  7. 11 of the fatalities were shot on the  head.

Other Reported Issues:

  1. A sibling (sister) of Marantan is a rival of Victorino Siman in a gambling operation. But Marantan denied the accusation.
  2. The six men killed in Calamba City by the group of Marantan were bet collectors of Victor Siman in his gambling operation, not members of the gun-for-hire syndicate.
  3. Tirso Lontoc who is one of the leaders of the Luntiang Alyansa ng Bundok Banahaw had contacts in the Maoist rebels in Quezon. Vic Siman asked him for help in resolving issues between the rebels and Siman’s gambling operations.
  4. A red suit case containing P30 million from the STL bookie (gambling) operation in Bicol is missing. The presence of this suit is confirmed by Johnny Glorioso, news correspondent of ABS-CBN’s DZMM radio.
  5. Senator Panfilo Lacson revealed that the fatalities are part of the bigger gun-for-hire syndicate backed by politicians.

Police Superintendent Hansel Marantan’s background:

  • A PNPA 1998 graduate
  • In November 7, 2005, Marantan, as Police Senior Inspector, was part of the Highway Patrol Group that killed members of the Valle Verde car theft gang (Anton Cu-Unjieng, Francis Xavier Manzano and Brian Anthony Dulay) in a shootout. The shootout was taken footage by the UNTV news crew showing members of the government security group were shooting people inside a car Nissan Exalta (XDD 828) along Garnet Street in Ortigas Center in Pasig City.
  • In May 2006, Marantan’s group involved in a car-chase from Quezon City to Bulacan and killed the 4 suspected criminals by shooting.
  • In 2009, He was promoted and became Police Superintendent.
  • In December 2009, Marantan was part of the government security forces that killed 19 people in shootout with suspected robbers (members of Waray-waray Robbery Group) in Parañaque. The fatalities include a motirst Alfonso de Vera and his 7 years old daughter.
  • In October 2010, Marantan was part of the 415th Provincial Police Mobile Group that killed 8 suspected members of the Kidnap-for-Ransom group in shootout.

Few of the PNP Officials were relieved from post in connection to the said shootout:

  1. Senior Supt. Valeriano de Leon, as director of the Quezon Provincial Police Office
  2. Supt. Ramon Balauag, as Quezon police intelligence chief
  3. Chief Insp. Grant Ayobo Gollod, as Atimonan police chief
  4. Supt. Hansel Marantan, deputy intelligence chief and concurrent head of the Regional Special Operations Group. He was the leader of the police-military group that killed the 13 alleged criminals and the only wounded on their side.

In another report, DILG Secretary ordered the relief of the following PNP officials in relation to the shooting incident in Batangas when PNP officers served an arrest warrant on Monday afternoon, January 14, 2013 to Fernando “Pandoy” Morales, an alleged former aide of Vic Siman (killed in Antimonan shootout) for illegal possession of firearm:

  1. CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon Region) Police Director James Melad
  2. Batangas Provincial Police Director Supt. Rosauro Acio
  3. Head of the SWAT unit of the Batangas Police Public Safety Company Supt. Raul Tacaca
  4. Chief of the San Juan Municipal Police Station in Batangas Supt. Elpidio Ramirez
  5. Chief Insp. Rodolfo Ama (San Juan Police)

The recent shootout incident in Batangas seemed related to the Antimonan shootout. Speculation said that police wanted to silence Pandoy because of his knowledge about the Antimonan Shootout scandal.

Smart Ka-partner (Retailer) Convention in Tacloban City

The manager of Prime Ace Marketing called me up this morning telling me that Sir Remuz and Sir Roy (both officials of Smart Philippines in Region 8) invited me to attend the Retailer’s Convention to be held this Friday, January 11, 2013 in Tacloban City Convention Center.

My guess is that this convention is not just an ordinary convention but part of it is the awarding of the winners of the Smart Kapartner Rewards Last Quarter Draw wherein there would be:

  • 1 winner for P150,000
  • 2 winners for Laptop
  • 5 winners of P10,000
  • 20 winners of Netphone
  • 40 winners of Sodexho Gift Certificate worth P1,000

Ms. Melanie Balogo of Hindang who won PhP10,000 last October 2012 draw, told my wife in a text message that Smart personnel called her up last December 2012 and asked her personal information similar to what had been asked when she won a prize in October 2012 draw. And I guess, she’s again a winner of the latest draw. I just don’t know if she’s the fourth quarter draw winner or the grand prize winner, considering that winners of the grand prizes would be drawn on the same day the winners of the fourth quarter draw prizes were drawn.

For the grand prizes, one Smart Retailer will win for the 1 million Peso cash, and 2 Smart Retailers, who will receive a Hyundai car. And I know, Smart has drawn the winners of these prizes already.

So, the winners, congratulations!

Awarding of Grand Prize Winner

The Friday’s Smart Ka-Partner event held in Tacloban City Convention Center is actually a kind of celebration of the region 8 retailers because the winner of the P1 Million is a retailer of Region 8 under the provincial distribution of Bun Kang Marketing, the provincial distributor assigned in Northern Leyte with its base in Tacloban City. (This report is not yet verified. I was only told by the retailers that I talked during the event. I wanted to talk any of the officials of the Smart but they’re busy, and I know, I will not be entertained because I am just a retailer and a blogger.)

The program started at 2:00 PM and I guess the awarding will be held at the end of the program. Unfortunately, I haven’t witnessed the awarding because at 3:30 PM, I left the venue to get the bus’ last trip for St. Bernard.

US Target Drone Recovered in Masbate

A US unmanned drone is found drifting in Masbate seas by fishermen and was first thought and reported to local authorities as bomb. Local authorities identified it as US-made unmanned target drone with technical description:

  1. Aerial Target Drone
  2. BQM-74E Chuckar III
  3. Part No. 89500-517
  4. Model No. BQM 74E
  5. Serial No. BQ 55048
  6. Contract No. N-19-05-C0040
  7. Cage No. 77646
  8. Acceptance Date: April 14, 2008
  9. Length 12 ft 11 inches
  10. Wingspan 5 ft 9 inches
  11. Height 2 ft. 4 inches

US authorities in the Philippines issued statement revealing that the US drone recovered in Masbate is not armed and is not used in surveillance, but is just a target drone used in air defence training.

But people whose minds are not contented on the official statements released by authorities are speculating:

  1. The recovered unmanned drone was actually doing surveillance activities over Masbate before it crashed into the sea. It has been noted that Philippines has allowed the US Drone to fly over Philippines for scouting purposes, and Masbate area is one of the areas where Maoist rebels operate.
  2. The US target drone was used in training in other country (not in the Philippines). It then crashed into the sea and was brought by waves and current into the Masbate seas.

Google Chairman Eric Schmidt Will Visit North Korea

Report spreads revealing the plan of Google’s Chairman Eric Schmidt to visit North Korea and a lot of speculations emerge as Google hides the real reason why a top icon on Technology and free access to information wants to visit a country that allow its citizens no access to internet but just to the few top officials.

  1. Schmidt was called up by the leader of the North Korea for a meeting because the North plan to hire Schmidt and his scientists in Google in the making of a sophisticated military technology by which they will make use of its newly installed weather satellite.
  2. The North Korean government is interested in acquiring stock share of Google for additional source of income of the government.
  3. Schmidt has a plan of sending aids to the North Korean government which is currently pursuing technology advancement. On the other part, the North is interested in buying Google’s driverless car so that the government to lessen their dependence in the oil produced by its neighboring oil producing countries. The government is also interested in Google’s other products such as Android phones, Google TV, and its Google Maps.
  4. What about a wife. What I mean, Schmidt might be interested in taking a second wife directly from the North.
  5. The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (the government of North Korea), wants to use the driver-less technology of Google for their war tanks, war trucks, fighter plans, and intel planes. Just imagine if a war occurs between the north and other countries wherein the North’s planes flying on the air and attacking other nation’s planes without pilot. This way, North can save its people’s lives during war.

Whatever Schmidt plans to do in North Korea, we will know about this soon.

Fixing WordPress Database Illegal Mix of Collation Error

I’ve been trying to fix the database error of the sites hosted by my VPS account and none of the steps I made is successful. This error is making every account’s error_log bigger everyday which resulted to server crashes.

One of the error says:

WordPress database error Illegal mix of collations (latin1_swedish_ci,IMPLICIT) and (utf8_general_ci,COERCIBLE) for operation ‘like’ for query SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp_posts.ID FROM wp_posts WHERE 1=1 AND (((wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘%Princess%’) OR (wp_posts.post_content LIKE ‘%Princess%’)) AND ((wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘%Velasco%’) OR (wp_posts.post_content LIKE ‘%Velasco%’)) AND ((wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘%â%’) OR (wp_posts.post_content LIKE ‘%â%’)) AND ((wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘%Lonely%’) OR (wp_posts.post_content LIKE ‘%Lonely%’)) AND ((wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘%Night%’) OR (wp_posts.post_content LIKE ‘%Night%’)) AND ((wp_posts.post_title LIKE ‘%mediafire%’) OR (wp_posts.post_content LIKE ‘%mediafire%’))) AND (wp_posts.post_password = ”) AND wp_posts.post_type IN (‘post’, ‘page’, ‘attachment’) AND (wp_posts.post_status = ‘publish’) ORDER BY wp_posts.post_date DESC LIMIT 0, 10 made by require(‘wp-blog-header.php’), wp, WP->main, WP->query_posts, WP_Query->query, WP_Query->get_posts

There are several variations of the statement the main point is that there has been an illegal mix of collations between latin1.shwedish_ci and utf8_general_ci.

After examining the databases, I learned these things:

  1. The default collation on sql server is latin1_swedish while the existing database tables are using the utf8 collation which is based on my understanding is the default collation used by WordPress.
