Authorities Seized Honda Fit Cars in Cebu

The NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) in Region 7, through the search warrant issued by Judge Teresita Galanida, confiscated went to the JJRS Car Mall Sales on the North Road in Basak, Mandaue City, and confiscated 10 Honda Fit cars, Wednesday, March 6, 2013.

The Honda Fit cars which are all second-hand or surplus, are said to be illegally smuggled into the country, considering that Honda Philippines is not importing Honda Fit cars, and that under the Executive Order 156, importing second-hand vehicles into the country is not allowed.

This news has worried me since we are planning to buy similar model of car from a car store in Sogod, Southern Leyte.

On my recent visit to the car store, Honda Fit is priced at PhP350,000.00 with original features of it all functioning. I guess the price is 50 percent less compared to its brand-new price.

Owns Honda Fit?

Authorities warned that owning Honda Fit and other cars classified as hotcars will be problematic. Since 2008, LTO offices reject the renewal of car registration of these cars. And if still registered, authorities said, the registration is considered null and void.
