Protecting Yourself from Identity Theft

Internet mail is one of the main sources that perpetrators of Identity Theft are using to gain access to your personal information. The perpetrator may send threatening emails, or emails that seem appealing. Spam or Phishing emails are linked to Identity Theft and arrive in millions of mailboxes worldwide.

In most cases, no one is being singled out to become the next victim. It’s just not worth the effort involved. Identity Thieves aren’t interested from whom they’re stealing the identity from. Instead they focus on targeting as many people as possible as it’s a numbers game. The more people they target the higher are the chances that someone will be fooled.

Now these thieves are acting on greed and intend to get rich by stealing someone else’s identity. The senders of such emails are challenging the receiver by using deception, hoping the receiver will give out personal information, such as bank numbers, PIN and passwords, Social Security Numbers and other precious information that the thief can use to gain control over your identity.

Although Identity Theft has become of big public interest in the last few years, the tactics that are used are nothing new. Some of the well known hackers that have broken into military computers and stolen information from financial institutions have been using social engineering for decades. They didn’t spend months trying to break a complex password. They simply picked up a phone, rang someone and persuaded them to divulge sensitive information to them, such as a password!

So if you want to avoid Identity Theft, then the emails that you may want to bear in mind are SPAM that claim that you have won x amount of cash, and to act now to receive your prize. Well if you haven’t joined a contest then chances are you haven’t actually won a prize. A good example is an email that claims you’ve won $32,000 and requests that you pay the tax on the winning, and to please respond now in order to receive this prize. Or you may receive an email claiming that you could receive scholarships or grants to attend such and such a college and to earn your degree act now by providing your personal information. These are all bogus so delete them!

Companies that already have your personal information, such as your bank have no reason to ask for this again in an email. In fact banks clearly state in their Terms & Conditions that they will Never send electronic mail requesting information from the recipient at any time. So giving your information to someone that sent an email that has your bank name listed in the header, is only asking for trouble.

Identity Thieves are thinking of everything when it comes to stealing identities, including sending emails in respected names. FDIC was targeted by thieves; the sender sent emails to recipients of the bank requesting that they provide personal information to avoid closure of their accounts. Microsoft was also targeted by thieves when emails were sent to various inboxes requesting the receiver to download patches to protect their computers. Once the receiver downloaded the attachment, a dangerous virus took control of their computer, leaving a backdoor entry that would give the hacker access to the information stored on that person’s computer.

EBay is also a target for thieves. Some thieves purchase items on EBay claiming that they’ve sent the seller a check that amounts to more than the purchase price and that the seller should send the remaining amount back to the purchaser by electronic form, or else say through Western Union. The checks were found to be counterfeit and so the seller was being tricked into handing over Money.

Here are some helpful tips to help you avoid Identity Theft:

* Don’t open emails if you don’t trust the sender.
* Never give out your personal information over the internet, unless you know that the company can be trusted and is using encryption to secure the web page(s).
* Do a background check on any site you are thinking of giving your information to or you’re considering buying from.
* Never give your personal information over the phone line.Do not post personal information on forums, bulletin boards or discussion boards online.
* Conceal your personal information at all times, including at home. When using ATM or other machines to make deposits, withdrawals or purchases make sure no one sees you type in your PIN number.
* Change your PIN numbers and passwords regularly.
* Don’t just throw personal information, such as bank statements or letters containing your postal address, account numbers or any sensitive information in the trash. Put it through a shredder first.

Do you have old websites, which have really good search engine rankings because they have been up on the Internet so long? Many folks do and these sites get good traffic but also sit there and cost us all Money. Money for Domain Name Re-registration and hosting fees and even if those fees are minor, obviously there are real costs associated with them.

Why not add AdSense to your websites today? This way you can make those sites pay for themselves and put some money in your pocket to upgrade them a little? Realize a good graphically done website with good search engine rankings will continually pull in Internet Surfers.

If it contains important information it will even get repeat visitors as well. Even though it only costs $8-39.00 for the Domain Name yearly registration and many such sites are hosted with a package of unlimited use and multiple sites for under $300 per year, this does not mean it should not pull in revenue rather than costing you money.

There for if your old websites information that is interesting, good or educational then why not make them revenue generating sites? You have a responsibility to the World and Internet user and should be careful of forgotten websites; they need to be upgraded. And perhaps if they generated revenue you would be more apt to actually upgrade them. So, consider all this in 2006.

Article writing is certainly a useful internet marketing tool. A well written and circulated article can provide you with:

* Links to your web site.
* Search engine entries.
* Expert credentials.
* Information about your web site and products sent around the internet.
* Loads of traffic to your web site when they click on your resource box.

That’s all great but you want to make sure that your article is really well distributed. So write for AdSense sites. AdSense sites are the new phenomenon at the moment just take a quick look at eBay and you will see hundreds of them for sale. Some sites such as AdSenseSites.biz even sells packs of them.

So what is the connection between AdSense sites and article writing?

A look at these sites will quickly show that many of them rely upon articles for their content. Some of these sites like helpfuljoe.com have thousands of pages all with adverts or AdSense code on them. All generating Money for the web site owner.

Why do they use articles? Well articles are cheap content that are of the right size and easy to group under subject headings and if you know where to get them relatively easy to find in large groups.

So how do you make your article attractive to the people who design AdSense sites?

Head Line. You need a short headline that describes the content of your site and includes 2 or more key words.

The short head line is because articles are stored on the web site by in the following format: “title-details.html” and the title is often used as the linking title in the menu. So the shorter and more descriptive the heading the better for the web site designer.

Contents. Your content should be about 350 – 600 words long and contain a good smattering of key words. The length is because this is the ideal length to fill a web page. Longer articles will be discarded as too complicated to work with. Articles are found by searching on keywords that are appropriate to the web site being built. So if you have a reasonable number of one keyword in your article it will be found and used.

It is important not to stuff your article with too many keywords or keywords in the wrong place or just for the sake of it.

Choose a few major keywords in your subject area and make sure that you use them appropriately and at a maximum of 5 times.

Article Directory. Obviously in order to get your article found you need to put it in the appropriate directory! There are several good article directories on the internet such as ezinearticles.com and articleshut.com, but not all of them allow you to bring down numerous articles at a time. The best way to find these directories is to look at some of the AdSense sites and see where they found the articles from.

Of course not all large sites built are for AdSense helpfuljoe.com for instance uses Clikkads but the same rules apply for any contextual advertisements.

So good luck.

Affiliate marketing is probably the simplest business model you can choose to build a business. Of course the devil is in the details, as they say, but the overall model can really be broken down into six steps.

Before we get to the steps, I want you to ask yourself a question. What do you hope to accomplish with affiliate marketing? This is an easier question to answer than it might seem. There are really only two basic choices here.

The first is what I call the quick buck choice. In other words, you want to make a few dollars quickly, and you are not interested in building a business. If this is you, all you need to do is learn how to write exceptionally good ads, and then use them to promote your affiliate product. Many people will say I am wrong, but there is nothing wrong with doing this, as long as you are honestly not trying to build a long term business this way.

On the other hand, if you are looking to build a business with income potential for the long term, then you will have a longer road ahead of you. It will take you longer before you see any profit from your efforts, but it will be worth it when you are able to take a day off, or even a week off, and still have sales in your absence.

These steps should be followed in order. If you try to go out of sequence, you will not get the results you are after.

1. Pick a Market

Why pick a market and not pick a product? Because you will eventually want to add additional products into your pipeline. You should pick a market that interests you, and maybe something you already know something about. Don’t forget that you are building for the long term.

2. Pick a Product

Once you have your market chosen, you should pick just one product to begin with. It will be very tempting to try to add all kinds of related products at first, but don’t. Having just one product will help you focus on the important tasks. You will want to pick a product that converts well. What this means is that the product sells to a high percentage of visitors. This will help keep your cost per visitor down and increase your profits.

3. Build a follow-up series

Also called an autoresponder series, you should build one based on the topic and the contents of the product you are promoting. If it is a physical product you are promoting, you will have to create or locate content that is directly related to the product. As an example, if you are selling golf clubs, you could create a series about how to buy golf clubs that fit, or the benefits of custom clubs, or even something about the club preferences of famous professional golfers. Be as creative as you can, and do not stray off topic. It has been said that most sales are not made in the initial contact, they are made on the seventh. If you are not following up with your prospects, the bottom line is you are losing sales.

4. Build an email capture page

This is where you will capture information about your prospects so you can send your follow-up series. If you are building a business, having your own web site is a necessity, if only because you will control the content, and be able to capture email addresses for yourself. You might be able to get by for a while without this, but it just isn’t worth it.

5. Drive traffic to your squeeze page

Until you are finished with step four, you shouldn’t even think about traffic techniques. If you don’t have anywhere to send the traffic, why worry about how to generate it in the first place. Depending on the traffic generation techniques you choose, it may take some time for you to start seeing sales in your program. You should spend this time developing one or two streams of traffic, and refining these techniques to help you drive more traffic with less effort.

6. Find additional related products

Once your business is making some Money, it is time to start adding to your list of products. I don’t mean you should go out and sign up for every affiliate program that is even remotely related. What I do mean is that you should carefully choose an additional product or two, and add them into your pipeline. Because you have been building a list of qualified prospects, you will be able to market these new products to them. This is the really long term money maker for your business. As long as you continue to recommend good products to your customer list, you can continue to make money off of them, even the ones who have already bought your last product recommendation.

So these six steps are all you need to go from nothing to having a profitable business selling other peoples products. It can be easy to loose focus if you are not seeing immediate results, so keep your sights on the end goal of having a profitable business. You may also find it hard finding your initial market and product. Take your time and choose the best product you can. If the product you choose to promote is not good, your prospects will not continue to listen to your recommendations.

By: Aditya Singh

“Only the content of your website gives you promotional leg to stand on”

Everyone wants to Make Money on the web and so as you. This you can make only if you have a web presence and bring customers to your website and turn leads into sales. Your search engine ranking is the key to the amount of visitors, and the success of your website, finally. But… but… but… this is not an easy task. In the age of tough competition it’s difficult to achieve top ranking on the top search engines and for the top keywords.

Its good to a have website highly rich with animated pictures, graphics but if content of your website is not good then its really not worth to have that. Stunning visual design may do a great job of attracting visitors, but, if in the end, the substance isn’t there, all your effort was in vain.

Content is the most vital part of your website. No matter how good is the design or how fast your site, people visit for content, and that is what you should be giving them. There are so many sites around which have no real content, or are just plain boring with some animated pictures. Good content keeps not only your visitors interested and give you a good site but it can also help you to promote your website.

What I believe is, for any type of business, a plenty of well-written, informative, related content of your website is a prerequisite to infinite success. The more pages and words you have, the more chance you have or being on the top as a search result. You must have heard about Google, EBay, Yahhoo, MSN, etc. Would you say that these sites have stunning designs and visual effects… Not at all!! These sites offer information first i.e. content. See, Google gives you one of the best search results; yahoo provides content, news, products, etc in abundance. You will be astonished by the fact that the top-ranking web pages on Google are consistently much better written than the vast majority of what one reads on the web.

So how can you get high-quality content on your website? There are many ways to add content to your website:

Write Yourself

Writing yourself is the cheapest way of generating the content. But for this you need a good knowledge of your subject to be able to write effectively on it. If you have the skills and time to generate content then this is really the best route to take. You have to focus on your site’s purpose and find a way to balance the information in categories that help communicate your goals.

Hire someone else to Write

If you do not feel confident enough of writing great content yourself, it’s better to hire a good writer to do it for you. But before choosing an appropriate copywriter, but he should possess Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or Search Engine Optimization (SEO) copywriting experience. As you have a website which is selling your business, and your main aim is to bring traffic to your website. So a person with an experience of SEM/SEO can only do wonders for your business.

Last but not the least, If you are running a business and want traffic then there must be more value in writing higher quality content than in redesigning your site or updating your technology. Just get your designing out of the way and let your visitors have what they want, information. I’m not trying to detract from visual design, information design or good technology. Each makes a huge difference in the quality of a web site, but the web site doesn’t stand a chance without content.

By: Mark Nenadic

When you’re trying to choose the precise niche that your business will fill, the best strategy is to make sure that you know what you’re doing with the product, so that you’ll feel much more comfortable in your niche and you’ll enjoy what you’re doing. The best successes are always achieved by those who like their work. Therefore, the first step that you can take for defining your own niche is to make a list of all the things that you like to do best. This may have to do with your current job, a job you used to have, a hobby you enjoy, an art form, a sport, or anything else that you happen to enjoy in life.

Begin by writing down your areas of interest, and then look at each parts of that list separately so that you can break it down into more focused sections. To help to inspire you in building your list, think about the following questions and get your mind moving. Write down everything at first, not really thinking about whether or not it really has potential. The key to this step is simply to get the ideas flowing and see what you come up with, getting it all down on paper. You never know; the idea you write down right now might not seem like much, but when you read it over later, it might stir much bigger thoughts.

• Would you like to be in this field every day as your job?
• Do you already have any skills or knowledge in that category?
• What type of person would be interested in the type of product that would come from that category?
• Would you enjoy working with your niche market target?

Once you’ve come up with your primary list of interests, use the above questions to go over it and narrow it down to those that have the highest chances of bringing you success. Give yourself a bit of time to mull over those topics that remain, and choose one of them that appeals to you the most.

Use that topic and begin writing down all of the basic things that you would require to learn or obtain in order to achieve success within that category. Put all of these things into a logical order, and then break them down into smaller parts which are then arranged in their own logical orders.

Once you’re done, you should have a much clearer idea of what you’ll be able to offer your prospective customers, and if you have the ability and motivation to work toward success in that specific category from your original list. To help determine if your successes are likely, go over your current list and ask yourself the following questions:

• Do you have any special knowledge about this topic?
• Do you have any skills that are related to this topic?
• Are you able to come up with a product that would help or please people in some way within this topic?
• Is there anything that you can offer in this topic that is outstanding and not already present in today’s marketplace?

Make sure that you’re always writing your ideas down. With all of the thinking and brainstorming you’ll be doing, you’ll be surprised how fleeting ideas are if you don’t get them down on paper. Even if some of them look rather odd when you write them down, when you delve into them, they might have a lot more potential than you first thought.

Once you have some substantial ideas in front of you, consider showing them to your friends and family. Listen carefully to their thoughts and opinions and let them inspire you for further ideas and details. You might be surprised at what the people around you might think of that may never have crossed your mind.

Another great resource is the internet. Do some research around your topic and prospective product(s), finding websites of general interest and potential competition. This will give you some great ideas about what’s out there and an understanding of what people are really looking for. It will help you to better polish your idea or develop a whole new one that you think is better.

“Podcasting” is a term coined from the Apple Computer Corporation product – the iPod, which is a portable digital audio device that lets its users store music from their computer to the device so that they can listen to it anywhere, anytime.

However, the term is no longer exclusive to the actual iPod product. It now can mean any software and device system that allows the user to download audio (usually in MP3 format) and store onto the device for the user’s listening.

What makes this different from radio or other Web-based media is that podcasts allow users total control over when they access and listen to the audio material. It does so by using the RSS standard or Real Simple Syndication.

The difference from broad and Web casts lies in how the material is created and distributed over the Internet. Instead of a centralized source and stream, podcasting is capable of sending the audio content directly to individual iPods and similar devices.

Who does podcasting?

Practically anyone with access to the Internet can podcast. As much as blogging began in this way, so does podcasting, whose appeal lies in the ease and convenience of creating and transmitting any audio material via the World Wide Web.

Broadcast industry players and radio shows syndications are only now riding the bandwagon by formatting their material as podcasts. But the great thing about this technology is that even non-pros can use podcasting to share their self-produced content in order to voice out their own opinions.

How does podcasting work?

Podcasting is almost an inevitable outcome of the Internet where great ease is given to anyone to publish anything and distribute it anywhere.

Users can connect their audio devices to their computers, access a podcast subscription, and download the feeds from the site. The audio is accessed by the user from the source and is automatically stored in the device. Numerous resources on the Internet detail how to improve podcast quality in terms of sound, equipment, and content.

What makes podcasting so popular, and therefore powerful, is its aural (listening) nature, which many deem superior over text (reading). Listeners of podcasts are able to learn in conjunction with another activity such as during a commute or exercise.

Why is it important?

A great plus factor for podcasting is in the realm of education. While it cannot totally replace the classroom setup, podcasts can provide teachers yet one more way to connect with students. As almost all young people live on the Internet and many own portable audio devices, the possibilities of giving them something useful and educational through this means are great.

Where is it headed?

Enthusiasts have yet to find a limit to the uses of podcasting. This is most seen in the unabated growth of sites that categorize hundreds and thousands of podcasts and make them easily accessible to subscribers.

Even now, podcasting is developing at near breakneck speeds. Users and subscribers are becoming more discriminating, demanding new features for categorizing and indexing podcasts. As such, podcast producers are looking for new ways to enhance the simple audio format to deliver experiences that will not only entertain but educate as well.

The breadth and reach of podcasting is only now being realized but its growth is by no means slowing. With more and more rich media finding distribution on the Web, the quality of podcasts rely on how informed people are – both in creating and subscribing to content. The more you know about them, the better position you are to becoming a podcaster not only of popularity but, more importantly, of substance.

Wouldn’t it be great if every keyword in Google’s entire inventory could be relevant to your site? Imagine that no matter what any person searched for, all of the ads that came up in the SERPs (Search Engine Result Pages) paid you whenever someone clicked on them.

Sound good to you? That’s great. I think it sounds pretty cool as well, so let’s get busy making it happen for your web site.

Here’s a very much overlooked opportunity for AdSense users

That opportunity is called Google Search and this is how it works:

Tucked inside of your AdSense control panel is a section for creating a Google search box. Most AdSense users don’t even pay attention to it, and that’s a shame because hidden inside of that box is a lot of Money that’s wanting to be yours.

When you add that search box to your web site you are creating an instant portal into Google’s entire keyword inventory. Any time a visitor runs a Google search from your site, every resulting AdWord ad that appears on the SERPs is tagged back to you. That means that no matter which ads they click on, money goes in your pocket. Got that? What an amazing earning opportunity.

By combining AdSense with the Google search box you open yourself up to an incredible opportunity to monetize your site. In fact, many AdSense users say that they earn more money from searches then they do from AdSense ads on their own page. And it makes sense when you think about it.

A clever idea gets even better

Just as you would expect, Google doesn’t leave you hanging without support or some great ways to make even more money. Take a look at the features and options that you can set up right from within your AdSense control panel.

Customized look and feel

You can grab the standard Google search box and be up and running in seconds. Or you can add your logo and make the box match your site’s color scheme with over 200 available colors.

Control the scope of your user’s search

You can configure the search box to search just your site or the entire Google network. It’s your choice. You can even provide your visitors with radio buttons that let them perform either search. No matter which search they choose, you’re Making Money every time they click on an ad.

Google will even host your internal site search result pages for you so you don’t have to spend a penny buying extra bandwidth or disk space from your ISP. How’s that for user-friendly?

Online Tracking Tools

Of course, Google also provides you with online tracking and reporting tools so you can see how well your shiny new search box is doing for you. You can see your queries, clicks, click-through rate and total earnings just like with your AdSense for Content ads.

So if you’re not earning money from every ad in Google’s inventory, log into your AdSense control panel and make it happen.

Wordpress is an unbelievably powerful tool for the online business owner. If you already have a site, all you need to do is add a Wordpress blog to a directory on your domain.

For instance, if your site is at www.yoursite.com, you would simply install Wordpress into a directory like /blog/. The Wordpress blog will then be found at www.yoursite.com/blog/. You can use any directory name you want; ‘news’ and ‘updates’ are two other good choices.

Most hosts come with a cpanel account with fantistico. You can actually install Wordpress through fantistico with just a couple of clicks. It takes less than 5 minutes. The Wordpress backend is simple to navigate, so once you have it set up, it won’t take you long at all to become familiar with it. You’ll be able to make your first post within minutes.

Once you have your Wordpress blog set up, you can use it to funnel traffic to your sales page or even to other sites.

Just put a link to the page you’d like to send the traffic to on your blog. The sidebar and the header are excellent places for such a link. You can also add one to the bottom of your posts just to be sure people see it.

Adding a Wordpress blog to your site will help bring you quality traffic, get the search engine spiders coming back to you, and can be syndicated. Let’s talk a little about this last point; syndication.

Wordpress comes with a built in RSS feed. What that means for you is your content isn’t just limited to your blog. Instead, your content can make its way to other sites all around the internet.

The reason is that RSS makes is super easy for another webmaster to take samples of your content (usually your headlines and a couple of sentences with a link back to your blog) and place them on their site. RSS stands for really simple syndication … so its entire purpose is to make content sharing fast and easy.

Another use for RSS is that there are now blog search sites on the internet. These sites only index the RSS feeds from blogs. The most popular blog indexing site at this time is Technorati.

Using your Wordpress RSS feed, you can get your posts into Technorati immediately! This can bring you an absolute ton of traffic if you write content others find useful.

What I recommend doing is writing about something your potential clients would be interested in learning more about. Add content like this to your blog and start promoting it through Technorati as well as other methods of traffic generation. You’ll see an increase in your traffic. As you keep adding more and more content, you’re bound to see more traffic.

Capture your prospects name and email address to follow up with them or send them to a sales page. Watch your sales increase with this free method of gaining traffic.

Author Info:

A blog is basically an online journal wherein you can pen down your thoughts, ideas, opinions and practically anything that you want people to read. Blogs come in different styles, formats, and settings, depending on the preference of the user.

Today, more than 7 million blogs can be found in the Internet. This figure is continuously growing, as the availability of various blog software, tools, and other applications make it easier for just about anyone to update or maintain the blog (even those with little or no technical background). Because of this trend, bloggers can now be categorized into 4 main types:

· Personal bloggers – people who focus on a diary or on any topic that an individual feels strongly about.

· Business bloggers – people who focus on promoting products and services.

· Organizational bloggers – people who focus on internal or external communication in an organization or a community.
