Lion Air Boeing 737-800 Jet Crash April 2013

Dozens are injured and 1 is in critical condition after a budget flight Lion Air Boeing 787 missed the run way and landed instead on sea, breaking its fuselage into two.

Lion Air flight JT-960 was carrying 101 passengers and 7 crew members, when it tried to land on the runway of the Bali Airport on Saturday (April 13, 2013) in Indonesia. Experts said that the plane was flying 100 feet below the flight path when trying to land and in a high speed that resulted to the crash.

Lion Air is banned to fly into the US and Europe over safety problem. But it bought passenger jets in bulk for their fleet. The one that crashed on Saturday was delivered to the Lion Air only on March and it had just few flights before the incident happened.

Investigators are still finding the real cause of the crash. Black Box was already recovered by authorities and hoped that it will help them find the cause.

Experts think that it was the wind caused the crash considering that as the plane was about to land, it was under the heavy rains.

The pilot and his co-pilot underwent a drug test. They passed the initial drug test through urine test but the result of the hair test for possible use of drug is not yet released. It has been noted that since 2011, 11 pilots and co-pilots were arrested over the use of the illegal drug.

The wreck of the plane will be airlifted and will be kept for further investigation.

Pyongyang will be Feasting while in State of War against US and South

Pyongyang has invited many personalities in academics, politics, business and research studies for the celebration of the 101st birthday anniversary of founding father Kim Il Sung on April 15. North Korea will be feasting on that day despite the state of war that Pyongyang has declared against the US and the South Korea.

Many invited personalities have arrived already in Pyongyang. But because of the fears that nuclear war might happen between the two Koreas, some have turned down the invitation.

I am one of the invited personalities to attend the celebration, even if I am just an ordinary blogger, who failed to reach my dreamed popularity. I received the email on April 1, 2013 and I was told to fly to China on April 5. And from China, Koryo Tours will be the one responsible for the travel and accommodation in North Korea.

However, just like those other invited personalities, I turned down the invitation not because of fears of the nuclear war that might happen, but because I received the invitation from Pyongyang while I was asleep and when I woke up, I realized, I was simply holding our unpaid electric bill.

But wait… There seems a contradiction in North Korea. It was first reported that North Korea have urged people from international embassies to evacuate North Korea because, according to them, they couldn’t assure them safety when war breaks. Now, Pyongyang have invited different personalities to attend the mentioned celebration for the founder of the North.

Iran Earth Quake April 2013

At least 40 people died when a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Iran near its border with Pakistan at 3:15 PM. Aftershocks are expected to happen in days and might cause additional damages.

US Geological Survey said that the center is at the province of Sistan Baluchistan, 53 miles east-southeast of the town of Khash, 103 miles northeast of the town of shahr and 123 miles south-east of Zahedan,a t the depth of nine miles.

The government declared state of emergency in affected provinces.

April 9, 2013 Iran Earthquake

A 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck Iran, Friday April 9, 2013 at 4:20 PM local time, completely leveled two villages, killing atleast 30 people and injuring at least 800 people.

The two villages ruined by the earthquake are Shanbe and Sana, where are all near the epicenter are parts of the Bushehr province in Southern Iran where the lone nuclear power plant of Iran is found. Other cities seriously damaged are the cities of Kormouj, Dayer and Kangan.

According to reports, at least 700 houses were turned into rubbles of less than a minute of jolting. But it was noted that these houses are made of mud bricks, materials which are known to easily dismantle when being jolt by a quake.

Power and water lines were also destroyed. Government were sending electric generators for the rescuers.

Aftershocks were felt after an hour with the strongest measured at 5.4 magnitude, sending people to the streets.

Regarding the nuclear power plant, authorities revealed that it was not damaged by the quake.

Background

Earthquake is expected to happen in Iran which lies along a major fault line. In 2003, there atleast 25,000 people killed with a 6.6 earthquake jolted and flattened the city of Bam. Among those destroyed was the ancient mud-built citadel.

Hawker Beechcraft 390 Crash 2013

Three people injured and two people dead after a Hawker Beechcraft 390 crashed into the neighborhood near South Bend Regional Airport in Indiana, Sunday afternoon March 17, 2013.

Authorities said that the multi-engine plane tried to land at the said airport at about 4:15PM but failed. It tried to circle around to airport to try to land again but with not yet known cause, it crashed hitting three houses and shearing its fuselage into two.

Of the four men aboard the plane, two died during the impact, and the other two suffered injuries along with the other one from the neighborhood.

People in the neighborhood of about 50 houses are forced to evacuate their houses to avoid the danger of the explosion since fuel has leaked from the jet’s engine. Power is also cut to several houses.

The jet is registered to 7700 Enterprises which is owned by Wes Caves. It left Tulsa, Oklahoma and is about to land to the South Bend Regional Airport in Indiana. Identities of the victims are not yet revealed and authorities are still investigating the incident. However, Caves is believed to be one of the fatalities of the accident.

MS Thompson Majesty Cruise Ship Safety Drill Accident February 2013

Five (5) members of the crew of Thompson Majesty Cruise Ship were confirmed dead and three (3) others were injured, when the ship’s lifeboat with occupants fell from the ship to the sea up-side-down during the safety drill, a morning on February 10, 2013. The ship was still tied up at the port of Santa Cruz (La Palma) in the Canary Islands (Spain) during the accident.

The victims, according to authorities, were participants of an emergency training drill of the ship when the accident happened. Fatalities include:

3 Indonesians
1 Filipino
1 Ghanaian.

Two (2) Greek crew members were badly hurt and another 1 Filipino crew member was slightly injured.

There were 1,498 passengers and 594 crew members aboard the ship. It has been noted that no passengers were involved in the accident.

The MS Thompson Majesty is owned by Louis Cruises and is operated by Thompson Cruises. It docked at the port of Santa Cruz after arriving from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria early morning. It was scheduled to depart by 3:00PM of the same day to Funchal.

At around 10PM, the crew members participated an emergency drill, particularly lowering lifeboats with occupants in it. The lowering part of the drill was successful, but when they were trying to pull back the lifeboat up, the cable holding it snapped causing it to plunge into the sea.

Egypt Hot Air Balloon Crash February 2013

There are 19 people confirmed dead after a Hot Air Balloon carrying tourist caught fire while flying over Egypt’s ancient city of Luxor and crashed into a sugarcane field, on Tuesday, February 26, 2013.

It was piloted by an Egyptian Pilot and there are 20 tourists on board for the early morning sky-ballooning experience enjoying panoramic inflight views of the Nile River and the ancient temples of Karnak and Hatshepsut. Tourists include French, Belgian, Hungarian and Japanese nationals and nine people coming from Hong Kong.

According to witnesses, the balloon was in the process of landing when it caught fire. After a while, the gas canister exploded and it plunged 300 meters high into the sugarcane field. Passengers were jumping from the balloon’s basket. 19 of them are confirmed dead, and two including the pilot survived the accident.

Gov. Izzat Saad suspended Hot Ballooning while authorities are still investigating the incident.

US Target Drone Recovered in Masbate

A US unmanned drone is found drifting in Masbate seas by fishermen and was first thought and reported to local authorities as bomb. Local authorities identified it as US-made unmanned target drone with technical description:

US authorities in the Philippines issued statement revealing that the US drone recovered in Masbate is not armed and is not used in surveillance, but is just a target drone used in air defence training.

But people whose minds are not contented on the official statements released by authorities are speculating:

The recovered unmanned drone was actually doing surveillance activities over Masbate before it crashed into the sea. It has been noted that Philippines has allowed the US Drone to fly over Philippines for scouting purposes, and Masbate area is one of the areas where Maoist rebels operate.
The US target drone was used in training in other country (not in the Philippines). It then crashed into the sea and was brought by waves and current into the Masbate seas.

August – September 2012 Philippines Earthquake

Eastern Visayas Quake

On August 31, 2012 at around 8PM, a 7.6 magnitude earthquake jolted Philippines’ eastern coast (from Visayas to Mindanao) collapsing nearly a hundred light materials -made houses, damaged several buildings, killing a woman (Emelita Ubalde) and injuring her grandchild and 9 others, and sent thousands of coastal residents to high grounds in fear of the Tsunami.

The quake generated small tsunami waves but aftershocks came in hundreds with the strongest with 5.0 magnitude. On Friday alone, there were 525 aftershocks recorded.

According to authorities, the damages resulted by the Visayas quake reached PhP133 Million. There are 239 houses damaged, 82 of which were completely destroyed.

Sultan Kudarat Quake

On Monday, September 3, 2012, a 5.9 magnitude quake shook Sultan Kudarat and there were at least 60 aftershocks recorded.

Bukidnon Quake

On Tuesday, September 4, 2012, another quake with the magnitude of 5.6 hit Bukidnon and at least 300 aftershocks being recorded. But authorities said that prior to the predawn 5.6 magnitude quake, there are foreshocks recorded since Monday. It was also clarified that the quake felt in Bukidnon is not related to the quake that hit Sultan Kudarat and Samar.

The quakes in Samar, Sultan Kudarat and Bukidnon are caused by the movement of three different trenches.

I search the internet for the item you are looking and here’s what I found:

Here’s the instruction on how to secure your car inside the Floody Carbag:

Step 1: Spread the carbag flat on the ground. Undo the zippers.
Step 2: Drive the car at the center of the bag, either front or rear first.
Step 3: Once the car is parked squarely in the middle, close the zippers. (But of course you need to get out of the car first)
