20 Iranian Medical Residents Killed in Bus Crash
Philippines - 20 Iranian Medical Residents of the Cebu Doctors Hospital and their bus driver were killed when the JD Tourist Bus fell into a 30 meters deep ravine in Balamban town, Cebu.
A group of about 50 Iranian Medical residents and students of the Cebu Doctors Hospital rented a bus with plate number DWZ-666 (666 is the number of the beast in the Bible) and were on their way for a relaxation at a beach. When they reached the winding roads of the Transcentral Highway in Sitio Lubi, Barangay Cansamoroy, Balamban, Cebu at 10 AM, the bus skidded and fell of the ravine.
Initial investigation showed that the cause of the accident was the malfunction of the brakes.
The fatalities according to the Cebu Provincial Police office were Shah Mary Sharan, 31; Ataa Bargchi, 5 and his parents; Fohjan Zakari, Pedram Farjam and Hamed Reza Hozoori, who were students of the Gullas College of Medicine; and Dr. Ali Kamrani from the Cebu Doctors University; Dr. Morteza Ghasem, pathology resident of CDU; Alfa Barghchi, 16; The minors who were Pasha Masoomabadi and Pasha Johani; Another student of CDU and Mohammad Bejoobyen, 23; Certain Farshed; A 1 year and 6 months old Jahani Moeed; Vatane Mortaze, David Khatibi, 23; Shafagh Homayooni, 20; and Batoon; And there were two more unidentified victims.
