Foreign Journalists’ Email Hacked in China

March 31, 2010
By

The Foreign Correspondent’s Club of China (FCCC) confirmed that emails of foreign journalists covering China and Taiwan were hacked in recent weeks. Some of these journalists couldn’t access their email accounts beginning on March 25 and then after some times the access was restored again.

According to the FCCC, the settings of the hacked email accounts were changed so that they will forward all emails to another email address.

It was not yet known whether the attack is coordinated or isolated incidents since Yahoo is not yet commenting about it. But Yahoo did released a statement saying: “Yahoo! condemns all cyber attacks regardless of origin or purpose … We are committed to protecting user security and privacy and we take appropriate action in the event of any kind of breach.
