Philippines – Local Tourism experienced loss as the result after the European authorities banned local airlines in flying to the European airspace.

Travel agencies lost 10% of revenue after the banning has been imposed last month.  The president of the Philippine Travel Agencies Association,  Ma. Paz R. Alberto said in a statement: “The ban on local airlines by European authorities is another major blow to the operations of travel agencies who are also currently battling online promos by airlines and hotels…”

The banning also made the European tourists and travelers became cautious to visit Philippines since European agencies will not issue insurance benefits in travel packages to the Philippines.

The local travel agencies and the depart of tourism are calling the government to do something before the EU authorities will inspect the aviation sector next month so that the blacklisting will be lifted.
