P1.4 Million SSS Checks Lost
Social Security System President and CEO Emilio De Quiros Jr revealed Sunday in a press statement that P1.4 million worth of SSS checks were lost after the delivery van of the Philippine Postal Corp had been hijacked by armed men on December 13, 2010 at the Cainta Post office.
The armed men seized the van while its driver and the courier still trying to board the vehicle. They’re on their way to deliver the checks to the SSS members who are the recipients of the checks in Marikina, Lawton, Cubao, Diliman, Cainta, San Mateo and Antipolo. Members who are expecting to receive SSS check are advised to visit the SSS branch and have them verify the status of their claims.
The President and CEO of the SSS however assure the members that the hijackers couldn’t make use of the checks anymore. Banks were told already to reject those checks.
