Symantec Buys Verisign Web-Security Division
It was announced Wednesday that Symantec Corp. is paying Verisign $1.28 billion for the web-security division of the latter.
Symantec Corp is known for its anti-virus software will be soon dealing with selling the security certificates to websites that want protection to customer’s data. It’s a technology that data between the user’s browser and the website’s server. The website using this technology will show a padlock icon on user’s browser.
The transaction will end this September 2010.
