Taal Volcano at Alert Level 2
Alert Level at Taal Volcano in Batangas, Philippines was raised to 2 from 1 by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), yesterday, due to changes in volcanic activity in the area which are signs of possible eruption.
The PhilVolcs said that the frequency of earthquake in the areas increases since April that indicates the collapse of rocks and the flow of magma. The lake within the Taal Volcano is heating up too.
The disaster authorities placed the nine Batangas towns on alert that includes Agoncillo, San Nicolas, Sta. Teresita, Laurel, Lemery, Talisay, Tanauan City, Balite and Mataas na Kahoy. Tourists in Tagaytay, Cavite where the Taal Volcano is also viewed where advised no to go near the crater nor the Daang Kastila Trail that are considered danger zones.
