US to Open More Offshore Oil Drilling

March 31, 2010

President Barack Obama will propose allowing more offshore oil and natural-gas exploration and development at the Atlantic Coast and Gulf of Mexico. The announcement of the President regarding the proposal will be expected this late morning.

It is understood  that President Obama had this proposal so that the dependence of the US to the oil from the other nations especially from the middle east will be reduced.

But while oil companies and domestic drilling advocates will be happy on this, it is also expected that some residents of affected states and many environmental organizations will oppose this proposal.
