Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao versus Timothy Bradley Jr Boxing Bout June 2012

The current Junior welterweight champion, Timothy Bradley Jr, agreed to fight Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao on June 9, 2012 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Manny Pacquiao and Timothy Bradley Jr are all fighters of the Top Rank promotion by Bob Arum. Bradley signed a contract under Top Rank just to get the chance in fighting the world’s best fighter.

Manny Pacquiao will be betting his WBO welterweight title during this fight. And there will be no catch weight on this fight. The two boxers will be fighting at 147 lbs.

Bradley who has the professional boxing record of 28-0 with 12 knockouts is considered less experienced compared to Pacquiao who has the current record of 54-3-2 with 38 knockouts. But Bradley is younger than Pacquiao and is still on its best, while Manny Pacquiao has been seen on his decline especially during his fight against Marquez.

Bradley is unbeaten but Pacquiao who lost three times in his whole professional boxing career is also undefeated since 2005 and is considered the best pound for pound boxer of the world.

This fight, is the chance of Bradley to show the world that he is also the best. I think, he needs to apply the tactics used by Juan Manuel Marquez when Marquez and Pacquiao met on November last year. Remember that many of the Pacquiao’s fans thought that it was Marquez who won the fight. Besides, Bradley is noted of using dirty tactics such as using his head or elbow when his punch failed to connect the opponent.

With regards to the excitement inside the ring, I think, viewers of this fight will enjoy considering that the two fighters are both offensive fighters.

And it was concluded that there will be no Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez IV, and Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather Jr this year.

Boxing Bout Result

The world was shocked and outrageous when two of the judges scored the fight 117-113 (7-5 rounds) in favor of Bradley.

WBO Declared Manny Pacquiao Winner in Pacquiao versus Bradley Fight

The WBO officials through the five international judges in boxing examined the video of the Manny Pacquiao versus Timothy Bradley fight last June 9, 2012 at MGM Grand in Las Vegas wherein Bradley won over Pacquiao via split decision. The five international judges gave their scores all in favor to Pacquiao. On Wednesday June 20, 2012, WBO ruled that Manny Pacquiao won the fight.

But the question is: For what? What’s the use of this WBO ruling when in fact we know already that the decision made by the 3 ringside judges during the fight on June 9, 2012 is already final and it couldn’t be changed by any means, except of course if Bradley committed a violation on the rules and regulation of Nevada Boxing.

The WBO would say that Pacquiao won the fight. However, the championship belt holder is Timothy Bradley. If a rematch will happen, who will be the challenger of this fight and who will be the champion?

Pacquiao Should Quit Boxing Being Catholic Church Ambassador of Goodwill – SELaplana

Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao who is currently regarded as the best boxer in the world has accepted the call of the Catholic Church for him to be the Church’s Goodwill Ambassador. Because of this, he already sold his shares in the casino and nightclub in Manila because according to him, he will not engage in gambling business and any vices anymore.

But what about his roosters for cock-fighting? He also said that he will no longer participate in the cock-fighting betting. But he did not say that he already sold his roosters and his fighting-cocks breeding farm. And if he will abandon his farm, people who found their living attending his roosters will be affected with this changes.

By the way, I found a report that his 1,000 roosters which are worth $700,000 are already given to a friend. It was not mentioned who this friend is but I guess its the Governor, Chavit Singson, Pacquiao’s best friend. It was not mentioned too that his employees in the rooster farm are given to his friends too.

Talking about Chavit Singson, he is always seen in every fights of Manny Pacquiao. He even shared with Manny Pacquiao in a presidential table in every important occasions. But Chavit is not Pacquiao’s promoters. He’s not even a fund raiser of Manny. Chavit is simply a gambler betting on Pacquiao.

Betting in boxing is jut normal. It was not reported on the news but many think that Manny Pacquiao is one of those bettors in the boxing world. He bets not only his crown or the world boxing titles but also money. That’s what many think why Pacquiao is more richer compared to when he would just receive his purse.

Now, since Manny Pacquiao is quitting as a gambler for the sake of his salvation, then he needs to quit boxing too. While he is still in boxing, he will always be tempted to bet for himself, is always a gambler.

Pacquiao To Fight Not Mayweather – SELaplana

Just like what I expected, there will be no Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather Jr this year. It’s been concluded already. The fighters did not meet in one point especially on money matters, plus, Bob Arum is not really interested of dealing with Mayweather Jr. at this time… Maybe by November…

It was already reported that Floyd will be fighting against the Puerto Rican fighter Miguel Cotto on the date he already set at the MGM arena (May 5), while Manny Pacquiao will  possibly face WBO light-welterweight champion Timothy Bradley on June 9 in Las Vegas but not at MGM.

If Mayweather earns more from the pay-per-view sale than Pacquiao, I think, the match that Bob hopes to happen by November will never happen because I know that Pacquiao’s camp will insist the 50-50 split while Mayweather will insist 60-40 split over Pacquiao.

Floyd Mayweather Jr To Retain His WBC Title

Jeff Powell of the the DailyMail criticized the WBC governing bodies for failing to follow the existing WBC governing rules in the case of Floyd Mayweather Jr’s WBC title.

The WBC rules clearly said this:

c) In the event that the holder of a WBC title is convicted and imprisoned for a crime involving moral turpitude, the WBC Board of Governors shall declare the champion’s title vacated and the procedure to fill the vacant title is set out in these Rules and Regulations.
d) In the event that any boxer rated for any WBC title has been convicted and imprisoned for a crime involving moral turpitude, such boxer will be dropped from the ratings.

However, it is likely that the WBC governing bodies are making Floyd Mayweather Jr exempted of the rules.

It has been noted that Floyd Mayweather Jr is already convicted of battering his ex-girlfriend and the mother of his children and Mayweather Jr will start serving his sentence in jail for 3 months starting January 6. But even if he is a convict, but still the WBC decided not to touch the WBC title of Mayweather Jr.

Powell accused the WBC of greed of the money that Mayweather’s fight might give, considering that Mayweather is considered the boxing money maker.

Floyd Jr snatched the WBC title from Victor Ortiz in September last year. And, both camps of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr are still looking for ways to agree a fight of the two popular boxers.

Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez – Part 3

I patiently watched the third instalment of Manny Pacquiao’s fight versus Juan Manuel Marquez in MGM Grand – Las Vegas, Nevada through the via-satellite airing of the fight by GMA7. I actually wanted to buy a pay-per-view plan offered by the satellite TV that we are using for only PhP550, but I was having problem budgeting our finances. So, I better opted not to spend for the pay-per-view, but just to watch the fight for free through the via-satellite airing of a national TV.

The fight was actually an exciting one which made Pacquiao’s fans felt something strange especially when Pacquiao got hit by Marquez. However, I found it boring because GMA7 filled with too many ads in between the boxing rounds and almost all of these ads showed Manny Pacquiao himself endorsing the product, if not, the face of Manny Pacquiao.

Who won the fight?

If the previous fight of the two boxers seems controversial especially for the Marquez fans, this fight is the most controversial one, not because Pacquiao robbed Marquez the win but because many thought that it was Marquez who won the fight.

To let you know, I am 100 percent Pacquiao fan. But in my scorecard, Pacquiao got only 5 winning rounds while Marquez got 7 out of 12 rounds. In other words, my score was 115-113 in favor of Marquez.

But of course, I scored the fight based on the angle showed as aired by the said national TV and I don’t consider it perfect scoring because I couldn’t even accurately count punches that each of the boxer threw that hit the other. So, if I give 10 points to Marquez or Pacquiao in a particular round, then that means that I consider that particular boxer the winner of that particular round.

Even Pacquiao showed his doubt of winning the fight by not raising his hands up which he always did after the fight. Instead, he kneeled in a corner and prayed.

I wonder what his prayer was. I think, he was praying that God would do miracles so that the judges would give him the win. Or, he might be praying that God would help his fans not to get disappointed or embarrassed if ever he loses the fight.  I don’t think he’s reciting the “Our Father” or the “Hail Mary” prayers. I am sure, he was asking something.

So, when it was announced the he won the fight, the strange smile came into his face. As if he was saying, “at last!”

So, for the question on who really won the fight, well, the judges of the Manny Pacquiao versus Juan Manuel Marquez III fight concluded already and it was Manny Pacquiao. Why disagree with them when in fact, they were picked to be the judges so that whatever their scoring, will be considered final.

Marquez Robbed?

I don’t think Marquez was robbed. The fight was just close which led me to give a score in favor to him and others gave a draw. When the judges scorecard showed Pacquiao as the winner then Pacquiao really won the fight.

Marquez should not just shout: I was robbed! I was robbed! He should have done something that would led him won the fight like throwing Pacquiao into the canvas or by not just opting to counter-punching and overwhelm Pacquiao with thousands of punches.

I was not even impressed by the cut on Pacquiao’s face that he caused because for me that cut was caused by an unintentional headbutt.

$100,000 Bounty for Donaire’s Head

We all witness how boring the is the bout of Nonito Donaire Jr against Omar Narvaez. It’s like the fight of Manny Pacquiao against Clottey.

But it is good to know that Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotion is making ways to avoid such game again. He will be offering $100,000 bounty to the head of Nonito Donaire. The money is just like a motivator for the opponent to fight back well against Donaire. But it is not yet clear whether it will be given to their opponent the same way Freddie Roach give to the sparring partners of Manny Pacquiao.

Freddie Roach always has $1,000 in his pocket and he readily give it to Pacquiao sparring partner once they knock down Pacquiao.

Manny Pacquiao versus Sugar Shane Mosley Fight, Boring

I thought the Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao versus Sugar Shane Mosley fight would entertain me just like the previous fights of Pacquiao against Ricky Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Marco Antonio Barerra, and other Mexican fighters. But the boxing fight of Pacquiao last Sunday (Saturday night in Las Vegas) is simply boring.

Mosley promised that he would exchange punches with the strong and fast Manny Pacquiao. He did what he promised in early two rounds, but then after he was thrown by Manny Pacquiao into the canvas, he then stopped throwing punches. He was there in the ring running away from Pacquiao. Then every time Manny got him, he would then hug Manny Pacquiao, as if he missed his wife.

But I understand why Mosley was doing this. After he experienced the knock down, he realized that if he would continue fighting Pacquiao toe to toe, he would experience what Ricky Hatton experienced, or if not, he would just receive the punishment that Cotto and Margarito received.

So, running away from Pacquiao and embracing him were the best strategy to avoid the knock out. And he needed to this just to preserve his record that no one ever knocked him out.

But Mosley’s strategy made the fight boring. It even more boring compared to what Clottey did. At least, in Pacquiao’s fight against Clottey, Clottey stood there in front of Pacquiao without running away.

However, I admired Mosley’s right hand. He’s fast in blocking, Pacquiao’s left hook to his chain every time Pacquiao released his right-right-left combination. That left hook was actually the one that hit him and sent him down in the canvas. And everytime, Manny released his right punch to his left body side, he immediately sent his right to his head’s right to block Manny’s possible left hook.

What makes me laugh actually is when Mosley tried to embrace Manny, but then when Pacquiao refused, he just pushed Manny which caused Manny’s fall. I know, it was one of Mosley’s dirty tricks. I once saw this in his previous fight. I just forgot who his opponent at that time. And it works in Manny because Kenny Bayless failed to notice the pushing and called it a knockdown score in favour to Mosley.

It was just unfortunate to Mosley because even if Pacquiao’s fall would be counted as valid knockdown, that knock down couldn’t make him win the fight. And we have seen that the embarrassed Pacquiao became more aggressive and caused Mosley to run and run around the ring.

Manny Pacquiao’s next fight will be on November this year. And if Pacquiao want his fans to enjoy his fight, it will be better if he will face Juan Manual Marquez.

Many of the boxing fans are waiting for the Pacquiao versus Mayweather. But I am not excited about it anymore because Mosley and Mayweather are simply the same. They are simply boring fighters.

Have you watched the fight of Floyd Mayweather Jr and Sugar Shane Mosley? It was more boring than the Sunday’s Mosley fight against Pacquiao.

So, just like I said, I better want to watch Pacquiao fight Marquez again.

Warning! Manny Pacquiao is Dangerous To His Opponent’s Health! – SELaplana

If you’ll buy a pack of cigarettes, you’ll see a health warning on its pack that says: Warning: Smoking is Dangerous to your Health!

If you were Floyd Mayweather Jr, looking at Manny Pacquiao’s face will tell you this message: Warning! Manny Pacquiao is Dangerous to your Health!

Look at the face of Antonio Margarito after his fight against Manny Pacquiao.

Antonio Margarito has been confined in a hospital in Dallas after taking the beating from Manny Pacquiao during their boxing bout over Welterweight world title wherein Manny Pacquiao won the fight . Margarito will undergo an operation for his fracture on one of his orbital bones.

The fight last Saturday night in Dallas should have been the money fight of Pacquiao against Mayweather. And that face above with swollen eyes and bloody face should have been the of Floyd Mayweather. But Mayweather Jr knew the danger of facing Manny Pacquiao. So he chose to beat his ex-girlfriend to face criminal complaint against him instead of facing Manny Pacquiao in a boxing ring.

After the Pacquiao-Margarito fight, Would it be the Pacquiao-Mayweather? – SELaplana

During our discussion with my friends about Manny Pacquiao’s fight, one of them asked: after the Pacquiao-Margarito fight, will there be Pacquiao-Mayweather?

We both have common answer. It will be impossible to have the Pacquiao versus Mayweather boxing bout just because Mayweather don’t want it to happen.

Before, a lot of boxing followers thought that it’s Manny Pacquiao who rejected the call of the fans to fight against Mayweather because of the drug-testing that Mayweather want.

However, after the Pacquiao-Clottey fight and winning the congressional seat in the Philippines, Pacquiao announced that he now agreed to random testing up to the 14 days before the fight. Boxing followers thought that Mayweather would now agree to fight Manny Pacquiao. But it didn’t happened. Instead, Mayweather announced his second retirement for he said he would devout himself to his own foundation.

So, it was clear already that Mayweather just don’t want to fight the Filipino champ. He’s afraid that he might lose the fight and he might lose his undefeated record.

Let’s us just wait for the November 13 fight of Manny Pacquiao against Antonio Margarito who is much bigger, much taller and has higher reach advantage. If Manny Pacquiao will still win this fight, then his speed is truly powerful than the height and reach advantage.
