In the Philippines, killing your companion dogs is just fine. But in Columbus, Ohio, a Firefighter who killed his dogs for him to go on vacation is sentenced to 90 days jailed and pay $4,500.

David Santuomo, 43, pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of animal cruelty and one count of possession of a criminal tool. Prosecutors say he taped a 2-liter plastic bottle onto the gun as a makeshift silencer.

He was convicted of “needlessly killing … a companion animal” on Dec. 3 before vacationing with his girlfriend. One dog was shot six times in the head; the Dispatch reports that he bragged about the shootings to fellow firefighters.
