But it is good to know that Bob Arum of Top Rank Promotion is making ways to avoid such game again. He will be offering $100,000 bounty to the head of Nonito Donaire. The money is just like a motivator for the opponent to fight back well against Donaire. But it is not yet clear whether it will be given to their opponent the same way Freddie Roach give to the sparring partners of Manny Pacquiao.

Freddie Roach always has $1,000 in his pocket and he readily give it to Pacquiao sparring partner once they knock down Pacquiao.

Nonito Donaire, after winning over Fernando Montiel is now ranked number 3 next to Floyd Mayweather Jr. On the top of the list is our very own Manny Pacquiao. He even outranked Juan Manuel Marquez .

During the Pinoy Pride 3 boxing promotion event wherein Rey “Bombom” Bautista won over his Mexican opponent Alejandro Barera via a third round TKO, there were two fighters caught my attention and they were “the Sting” and “the Cobra”. It’s like Sting and Cobra, the two popular energy drinks in the Philippines, were fighting over who’s better between them.

“The Sting” was Edrin Dapudong (20-3-11 KO) of Philippines while “The Cobra” was Sofyan Effendi (10-10-2) of Indonesia.

The two fought under Flyweight Division for ten rounds. However, “The Sting” went better than “The Cobra” and snatched the seventh round TKO. “The Sting” professional boxing record was raised to 21-3-12KO).

The Sting Energy Drink

I actually don’t know what’s the meaning of the word “Sting” that Dapudong used as his moniker. It might mean the defense system of animals like the sting of the bees. But I suspect that “The Sting” here is the energy drink made by PepsiCo International. Who knows, if “Sting” energy drink backs Dapudong on his professional fights.

However, a lot of people believed that there will be no another Pacquiao – Marquez bout for simply a lot of reasons. I compiled of these reasons and they are:

1. Marquez wants a huge pay day. Juan Manuel Marquez urged that if the Marquez versus Pacquiao will happen, he should be receiving $8 million to 10 $million guaranteed earning. Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao of course will not give in to this demand.

2. Marquez is not marketable. There might be lots of people subscribed the HBO PPV during the fight of Marquez versus Mayweather but those subscribers were actually not of Marquez but of Mayweather. Marquez couldn’t even come up with a 250,000 PPV of his own. Bob Arum and Manny Pacquiao is not just about the fight but about the business and the income.

3. Marquez is a Golden Boy Promotion fighter. Bob Arum’s Top Rank Promotion had a legal battle against Golden Boy Promotion over Manny Pacquiao. They already had reached a deal. And that simple reason Bob Arum won’t allow his prized fighter Manny Pacquiao to face another GBP fighter. That’s what actually the reason also why Shane Mosley went out of the camp of the GBP and transferred to the Top Rank.

4. Marquez demanded Pacquiao to fight at 141 to 144 weight limit. Marquez demand simply goes against the announced weight limit by Pacquiao’s camp that Pacquiao should fight at 147 lbs. And Pacquiao’s camp has the pride not to give in with the challenger’s demand especially that Pacquiao is currently the number one P2P fighter.

Now that he retained his WBA and WBO titles, he’s positive that he’s the best challenger for the world’s number 1 pound for pound fighter Manny Pacquaio. He just want the third match. However, he argued that the fight should be at 140 lbs.

Why 140 lbs?

Well, it’s just part of the strategy to ensure the winning. Juan Manuel Marquez has proven to himself that he’s at good shape at that division. So, he can fight Manny Pacquiao toe to toe. And the world knows that it will be a great fight while Floyd Mayweather Jr is down there defending himself from criminal charges against him. Remember that Manny Pacquaio and Juan Manuel Marquez are both brawler, so just imagine what will happen in the ring when both brawler face.

At first, Mayweather tried to dodge Pacquiao by insisting the random blood testing. The ex-convict and drug dealer father of Mayweather was accusing Pacquiao of taking enhancement drugs.

Secondly, when Pacquiao accepted the drug testing that Mayweather wanted, Mayweather announced his retirement because he according to him, he wanted to focus himself to his own foundation. After that, the news about beating his wife surfaced.

Now, what’s with the beating of his wife? The rumors said that it is the only way Mayweather can do so that he can dodge Manny Pacquiao legally. He chose to be jailed than to face Manny Pacquiao.

ESPN: Congratulations… What do you think of your performance tonight?

Manny Pacquiao: Hey! I’m just doing my job. You know, my opponent is not that easy. He’s very strong, very tough. And I hit a lot in his face, but he’s strong, he can fight.

ESPN: Did you think, the fight should have been stopped at some point?

Manny Pacquiao: Well. That’s why I’m… I’m, you know,  looking at the referee to look at it. And… because he has a lot of bad cut here… in the right eye. Boxing is not about killing each other. It’s about entertainment to everybody.

ESPN: It’s like in the 6th round, he had his best rounds. Did he ever hurt you?

Manny Pacquiao: I tell you the truth, I got hurt in the body shot. I feel so weak in that round because I got really hurt in my stomach and I recover right away.

ESPN: Now what Manny? Do you want to fight with Floyd Mayweather? Because that’s the fight everybody wants to see. What do you want?

Manny Pacquiao: If the fight happens, that’s good. If not, you know, I’m okay. I’m happy for what I’ve done for boxing. And you know, my job is to entertain people and make them happy. If that fight happens, that’s good for us and for the people who love boxing.

Why I am thinking about it.

Here’s my points:

1. Margarito has the advantage. Height, Weight and Reach are all in Margarito. While Pacquiao is still underweight, short in height and in reach.
2. Margarito is working hard just to make sure that he has the best shape when November 13 came. While Pacquiao is still trying to reach his 100 percent shape. His previous speed is not yet reached and there are lots of distractions in his training.
3. Margarito is 100 percent focused in boxing while Manny Pacquiao is multi-tasking doing politics, singing, basketball, and boxing.
4. Pacquiao is superstitious yet he allowed the fight to happen on November 13, an unlucky day and unlucky number.
